I have extensive ELT publishing experience having worked since 2003 on many complex publishing projects in a range of editorial/publishing management roles. I have also worked on several large restructuring/business change projects involving a range of areas (editorial, design, production, legal, finance, etc.) and am familiar with working with colleagues in various locations around the world.
I have been freelance since 2014 and have had many opportunities to put these skills to good use with a number of the large ELT publishing companies.
For over ten years I worked for Macmillan Education on English Language Teaching (ELT) projects aimed primarily at Latin American/American English markets, starting in Design Administration and finishing as Publishing Operations Director. I developed a strong reputation for effectiveness and organisation and became well known for raising questions and queries, and not allowing issues to be closed without resolution.
Prior to this I worked for CfBT Education Services as a Regional Coordinator then later as Project Coordinator on the National Literacy and Numeracy Strategies, which included the coordination of the production of a range of training publications plus liaison with representatives at all levels of seniority at the Department for Education and Employment (DfEE) and in Local Education Authorities nationwide.
Since starting working as a consultant/freelancer in June 2014 I have worked on a number of operational and editorial assignments. You can see more information about these on my Example projects page.
I have also spent a lot of time travelling and adventuring overseas and still enjoy planning for trips (recent destinations have included Corsica, Tanzania, Sri Lanka, Turkey and Costa Rica) to the same level of detail and organisation as I plan work projects….
